EZPhoto
Mobile App - Figma
Being the Lead User Experience Designer for an application centered around photography sessions, I was responsible for the entirety of the project from conception to delivery.
The Product: EZPhoto is the concept of an application designed to meet the needs of anyone wanting to capture precious memories in a lasting way. From scheduling photography sessions with trusted photographers, to printing or ordering photos from previous sessions, EZPhoto has it all.
The Problem: Users need a way to have affordable photography sessions and access to those photos at any time, all in one place.
The Goal: Create an application that provides convenient booking of affordable photographers as the main user flow. The app also offers storage for users’ photos from previous sessions and a simple process to order prints at their convenience with no hidden costs. This was the first UX Design project I ever created, and it was done completely in Figma.
Project Duration: September 2022 - March 2023
Responsibilities: Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture through sitemapping, and responsive design for mobile, tablet, and desktop.
INITIAL DESIGNS
I began my research by empathizing with potential users through interviews, which set the design process in motion.
After finishing the interviews, I conducted a competitive audit, and compiled further research. To the left, you'll see the user journey map I created for one of my user personas.
Next, began the ideation phase.
Above, you'll see the first sketches of my first wireframes! It was a wonderful experience to tackle this head on and I learned so much. I utilized Crazy Eights as well, within this phase.
Checkout User Flow, Low-Fidelity Prototype:
After empathizing with my users and defining their problems and pain points, I began ideating solutions. You'll see the wireframes that I created here for the dedicated mobile app. I have the full set of wireframes above, and to the lower left you'll see the simplified version which includes only the user flow for the checkout process. I have also included the prototype images below.

USABILITY TESTING AND MOCKUPS
Once the low-fidelity prototype was complete, I conducted a moderated usability study and received an abundance of user feedback! The first usability study that I conducted, tested the overall functionality of the application as a whole. It was very intense and included a lot of information. My second usability study was a bit more honed in – it focused only on the checkout process for ordering prints.
Affinity Diagram
I really loved this way of organizing the information I received from the usability study. It made the finding of themes and insights much easier.
Research Findings
Above, you'll see the findings from both moderated usability studies that I conducted. Once I had all of this knowledge, I was ready to circle back to the ideation phase. I took the basic wireframes and transitioned them into mockups, which I was able to then connect to create my high-fidelity prototype.
This is a glimpse at the transition from wireframe to mockup for the entire app.
Going through the process of iterating on insights and updating designs to provide solutions to these insights was a huge learning curve for me.
I considered accessibility when I chose the colors for my color scheme within the application to ensure those with visibility diabilities are accounted for.
This is a portion of the design that I'd enjoy further expanding upon, as I did not have the time to iterate through each individual editing option.
Impact: Usability Study One, Participant B: “Everything seems well done and straight forward.” Usability Study One, Participant D: “Nothing was confusing, everything seems streamlined!” Usability Study Two, Participant C: “I think I would really like using this app!”
What I learned: Throughout this project, I learned an enourmous amount. Not only did I learn the design process itself, but how to use new software and bring my thoughts and iterations to life. It was a truly humbling experience and I am very thankful. I am eager to continue learning and growing as a designer.
Next Steps: The very next step I would take with this project is to continue iterating on the most recent usability study to improve my existing high-fidelity designs. Upon completion of the checkout process prototype, I would then go back and transition the rest of my application’s low-fidelity prototypes into high-fiedlity. Once all the pages of the application are entirely transitioned into highfidelity prototypes, I would conduct another full usability study of the overall functionality of the application.
